Is the Maui Real Estate Marketplace Slowing Down?

What’s in the news these days?

Quite a bit, when it comes to Maui’s soaring real estate numbers for the month of September!

According to data recently released by the REALTORS Association of Maui, the median sales price for single-family homes in Maui County dipped below one million for the first time since the spring, clocking in at $996,500 for September. Alternatively, the median price for condos rose to $729,000 last month – a 46.6% increase from the same time last year!

Even though the median sales price saw a slight dip in September, it was still a 27% increase over the median price for September of 2020 – and we’d be willing to bet that it will once again rise above one million before 2021 comes to a close. A lack of housing inventory and a ravenous set of potential buyers across the world continue to drive the marketplace toward historic highs – not only here on Maui, but all across the country and much of the world.

To be sure, there are some signs that the national market might be shifting: according to the latest reports, new listings are slowly increasing across the country, and the fall is typically a better time for buyers as a result.

However, when it comes to Maui living, you can always count on a steady stream of potential buyers salivating at the thought of picking up stakes and making a move to paradise! After all they’re not making any more land out here these days – or rather, any new land won’t be readily available for development for, oh, say the next 3 million years or so, give or take.

Much like the Valley Isle’s plentiful sunshine, that’s a forecast that looks to be holding steady throughout the rest of 2021 and beyond.

Lending our island ‘Ohana a helping hand

Speaking of the news: it was such an honor to be featured in Maui Now recently!

We were overjoyed to see so many within our community turn out to support Upcountry Strong’s recent food distribution dates. We founded our nonprofit to help kama’aina in the Upcountry region that may be struggling with hunger and food insecurity, and it’s been such an honor to help our fellow residents in the community through some of the most-challenging times in human history.

Overall, for the seven events we’ve held so far, almost 40,000 pounds of food–that’s 20 tons’ worth!–have been donated to needy Upcountry residents.

It’s very important for us as an agency to lend a helping hand to our island ‘Ohana, and don’t forget to spread the word  for the final distribution days left in 2021 – we are always looking for new Sponsor’s as well as Volunteers - our Christmas merchandise will be on the shelves soon please visit Pukalani Superette or make an order via our FB &  IG page Upcountry Strong , our  long sleeve T-Shirts as well as new hats  make a great gift and support the cause
